We are GasteizBerriak team and in our school, we have some Hungarian students that came here on an exchange programme for a week. They want to improve their languages; they want to know new people and learn about our culture. We have done them an interview, so we can learn something about their culture and about them. Here’s the interview:

1. How did you react when your school told you that you were coming here?
   • We were very excited and happy; we’ve never been in Spain. We investigated about Spain and when we came here, we found out the things we heard were true.
2. How did you come to Spain and how long is the journey and how did you feel?
   • We took a bus from Budapest to Munich, then, we took a 3 hours flight from Munich to Bilbao. We had some problems with the landing, it was windy.
3. What has encouraged you to do the exchange?
   • We want to discover new cultures, meet new friends, practice Spanish…
4. Where are you from and can you tell us something about your culture?
   • We’re from Hungary. We dance a lot “Fall dance” (like the Polish one). We eat a lot of paprika, soup, sour cream. It gets dark earlier and we eat dinner earlier. We never cross the road when it’s red (cars never stop, not like here). We do a lot of picnics in the park.
5. What do you do in your free time?
   • We’ve a lot of homework, so we spend much time doing them. We haven’t got much free time, but we play football, handball, we like swimming sports. Some of us play: the guitar, the bass guitar and the flute. Some of us play the guitar, the bass guitar and the flute. We like hanging out with friends in the park.
6. Which is the most beautiful thing in your country?
   • We like: Morgarit Island, An Gallért, The Danube, Budapest city centre, Parliament and Buda castle. We like: Margerit Island, An Gallért, The Danube, Budapest city centre, Parliament and Buda castle. We also like the spas in Budapest.
7. Have you ever been in a Spanish city and which Spanish cities would you like to visit?
   • No, we would like to visit Barcelona (the Sagrada Familia and the Spotify Camp Nou). We want to visit Galicia and Ibiza, too.
8. Comparing Hungary with Spain, which are the biggest differences that you have noticed?
   • We don’t stay out very late, we eat at different times, Spanish people look happier and they socialise more. We haven’t got “patio”, the streets are narrower, there is more traffic but it’s better organised (in Spain).
9. What do you know about the Basque country? Can you say something in Basque?
   • We know the Basque flag and the Basque music. We know saying: “Agur, Kaixo, Ama and Kalea”.

10. Which is the part that you love the most about coming here? And the part that you don’t like?
    • Everybody is happier here, you look happier, you don’t look stressed. You have access to the sea and we don’t, that’s cool! Some shops are cheaper in Spain. We don’t like the dinner time; we aren’t hungry at that time.
